UphillSport made by Sukkamestarit has been making socks for Finnish families since 1996. Responsibility and ecology have been core values from the beginning. Today, UphillSport manufactures NATIVA merino wool socks made from open-chain wool for dressing, exercise and celebrations.

Sukkamestarit Oy was founded in 1995 by a group of passionate textile professionals. The idea of establishing a new sock factory came to them in the early 90s when the market began to change towards faster delivery times, flexible production and tailored service for business customers. The founding members recognized a new opportunity here and wanted to establish a new kind of sock factory, whose operations would be strongly based on quality, technical innovation, service, speed and flexibility. Each of them had decades of work experience in a traditional Tampere sock factory. Production began in the new factory in April 1996. The factory invested in new generation machinery and changed production methods from seasonal orders to a warehouse service system. Understanding global markets and specializing in new innovative products was important.
