MERINO WOOL WASHING AND CARE

Care Guide for Merino Wool Beanies: Ensuring Long-Lasting Comfort

Merino wool is a durable and low-maintenance material, perfect for creating long-lasting beanies. To help you take care of your merino wool beanies, we've gathered essential information to guide you in maintaining their quality and extending their lifespan.

HOW TO WASH MERINO WOOL

Merino wool is naturally antibacterial, so often simply airing out your beanie is enough to freshen it up. However, when it's time for a wash, please follow the care instructions located inside the beanie. Here are some general guidelines:

  • Machine Wash: Set your washing machine to the delicate 30°C cycle. Please note that older machines may have varying temperature settings, so adjust accordingly. Avoid using fabric softeners as they can affect the wool's natural properties.
  • Avoid Hand Washing: Hand washing may be too harsh for the delicate fibers of the beanie, potentially causing stretching or damage.
  • Flat Dry: After washing, lay your beanie flat to dry naturally. Avoid using a dryer, as the heat may cause shrinkage or misshaping.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Natural Wool Smell: When wet, moist sheep wool can emit a typical smell, especially in natural colors. This is normal and will dissipate as the wool dries.
  • Allow Day-Offs: We recommend giving your merino wool beanie occasional breaks, allowing it to rest and restore its natural elasticity.

By following these care instructions, you can keep your merino wool beanies fresh, clean, and cozy for years to come. Enjoy the long-lasting comfort of your merino wool beanies with confidence.

    What is mulesing free?

The merino wool we use is 100% mulesing free. This means that the wool we use comes from farmers who don’t harm their sheep. Mulesing is a surgical procedure, where farmers remove a part of skin from the sheep’s breech in order to make the nesting environment less attractive for the blowflies.

    Is Merino wool sustainable?

Merino is 100% natural and renewable material, as the merino sheep produce new fleece every year. When merino is disposed of, it will naturally decompose in soil releasing nutrients back to earth. It can be reused or recycled.

Why is merino wool is so great?

    Natural material

Merino wool is 100% natural material. Therefore, it adjusts to the climate conditions and you can use it around the year. It keeps you warm every day, even when it rains. It also absorbs moisture, which means the merino fibres still feel dry against your skin. It is breathable material, and it adjusts to your own body temperature.

    Texture and softness

One of the best characteristics of merino is its softness. Other synthetic products can feel itchy against your skin, but merino doesn’t and you can use it even when your skin type is very sensitive.

    Easy to take care of.

The merino fibres are wrinkle-resistant as the fibres always return to their natural shape. You can machine wash merino if necessary, but luckily it is stain resistant and naturally antibacterial, which means it cleans itself. Therefore some airing once in a while is often enough.
