SuperYellow Products and materials

We use only 100% merino wool, organic cotton and recycled materials in our products?

Merino wool is the finest wool quality and it is naturally warm and soft. Merino wool is a long-lasting material with many great natural qualities. You can read more about what is merino wool from our merino wool guide.

Mulesing free merino wool is produced in a way the sheep are not harmed. We only use mulesing free merino wool in our beanies. Please read more about mulesing free merino wool.

Merino wool can be machine washed on delicate 30°, however usually airing is enough to freshen up the beanie. Please follow carefully the merino wool care instructions.

All our beanies are made in Finland. By local production we can ensure that our production is sustainable and that our beanies are the best quality.

Our beanies are one size and they fit for both men and women. Merino wool beanies adjust to your head when used without loosing their shape. For kids we have two sizes available: size 1 (46-50cm) and size2 (52-56cm).

In our merino wool beanies the knitting is tight and thick and they cover your ears. So yes, they are perfect for windy weather as well.

UphillSport Sock Questions

You should choose your size according to the size of your shoe. If your size falls between two sizes, we recommend taking a smaller size for technical and wool-soled socks and a larger size for plain socks.

All of our socks are designed for the Finnish foot and are more generous in size than many foreign socks. The size of the sock is also affected by the material combination and the elasticity of the sock. The size of socks in the “lepomit” can vary greatly, even if they are the same size. The size is affected by, among other things, the materials, structure and elasticity of the sock.

However, socks of the same size have the same stretch, meaning that the socks stretch to the same size last, even if the socks are different when unstretched. So you shouldn’t worry about the size difference, but if the sock feels completely the wrong size on your foot, it’s worth checking the inside of the sock leg to make sure the same size number has been knitted there as on the label.

Please note that merino wool products are not pre-washed. Therefore, we recommend washing the product before use so that the sock adjusts to its correct size and shape.

The size of socks in "relaxed measurements" can vary greatly, even if they are the same size. The size is affected by, among other things, the materials, structure and elasticity of the sock. However, socks of the same size have the same stretch, meaning that the socks stretch to the same size, even if the socks are different when unstretched.

So you shouldn't worry about the size difference, but if the sock feels completely the wrong size on your foot, it's worth checking the inside of the sock leg to make sure the same size number has been knitted there as on the label.

In addition, it is recommended that our wool-based socks and ski socks, for example, be washed at least once first so that the sock adjusts to its correct size and shape.

The need to wash socks is very individual and depends a lot on the footwear and the natural sweating of the foot. The choice of material also affects the need to wash. Merino wool socks do not need to be washed after every use, airing them often is enough.

Unfortunately, a sock made entirely of pure wool will not last long, as wool alone has poor abrasion and wear resistance.

Socks are subject to heavy wear and tear, which is why a synthetic fibre such as polyamide is usually added to the sock to make it more durable. The wool we use also already contains 20% polyamide to make the wool yarn more durable.

It is difficult to determine the lifespan of a sock, as it depends on many individual factors such as the intended use, the sock materials and its structure. For example, the lifespan of alpaca wool socks in everyday use is very short, as alpaca wool is not very resistant to abrasion and wear. Therefore, it is best suited for use as sleeping and lounge socks. On the other hand, socks with more synthetic fibres or, for example, a multi-layered structure bottom can last for years.

Still, it is not possible to draw any precise line as to which material will last a certain amount of time for each person and which will not. For example, the shoes worn with the socks,
the roughness of the soles of the feet, the fit of the sock and the surfaces on which the socks are walked on also contribute to the durability and lifespan of the sock. You can learn more about the materials in our online store's material information. We have also tried to describe the product's features and structures as accurately and as comprehensively as possible on our product pages.
